Lake Conroe Patrol Logged 14 Incidents Over July 4th Weekend

Conroe-area boaters got a close look at law enforcement's holiday presence on Lake Conroe this month, as the Precinct 1 Constable's Office released figures showing deputies handled 14 separate calls during the Fourth of July weekend, according to Montgomery County Police Reporter. Among those calls was a significant boat collision involving injuries, which required Precinct 1 deputies to work alongside Texas Parks and Wildlife officers on the water.

For Conroe families, the numbers offer a reminder that Lake Conroe draws heavy traffic every Independence Day — and that enforcement is active. Two people were arrested for Boating While Intoxicated over the weekend: one by a Precinct 1 deputy and one by a Texas Game Warden. BWI carries the same criminal penalties as driving while intoxicated on public roads, including potential jail time and license consequences.

The lake sits at the center of Montgomery County's summer recreation economy, drawing visitors from Willis to the north and The Woodlands to the south. Boat ramps and marinas along the shoreline see some of their highest single-weekend use around the Fourth, and the Precinct 1 Marine Division patrols those waters specifically to manage collision risk and impaired operation during peak hours.

The crash requiring joint response with state wildlife officers reflects a pattern seen on Texas lakes each summer: holiday weekends concentrate inexperienced and sometimes impaired operators in the same narrow channels. Sam Houston National Forest borders portions of the lake's northern reaches, adding kayakers and smaller watercraft to the mix alongside larger powerboats, which raises the complexity of any incident response.

Residents planning late-summer outings on Lake Conroe should expect continued Marine Division patrols through Labor Day weekend. Montgomery County Precinct 1 has not yet released the names of those arrested or further details on the injured parties from the boat crash.
