Firefighters rescued two puppies trapped under a sidewalk. The rescue effort began after reports of a puppy stuck underground. Crews quickly freed the first puppy, then discovered additional puppies under the sidewalk.
A lengthy rescue operation ensued, with two officers from Harris County Pets joining the effort. They dug for nearly two hours to reach the second puppy, which was safely rescued. A trap was set to capture a third puppy.
The rescue also revealed a large void beneath the sidewalk, posing a potential collapse hazard. As the sidewalk is used to access a nearby school, authorities were notified to make repairs. Further details of the rescue operation are available.
