According to a team broadcaster, Houston Astros pitcher Hayden Wesneski reportedly faces a season-ending injury due to elbow discomfort. Official confirmation is still pending.

Space City Home Network's Todd Kalas said on Wednesday night's show that Houston Astros right-hander Hayden Wesneski may be out for the season because of an elbow injury.
Kalas gave an update during the Astros' game against the Kansas City Royals that had not yet been approved by the team. During the second inning, he said, "Hayden Wesneski is likely to be out for the season." He was talking about how important people thought Wesneski and Spencer Arrighetti would be this year. Kalas stressed that more information was on the way.
Early in the week, Astros manager Joe Espada wasn't clear. On Monday, he told the press that the team was still awaiting the medical reports. Spanier said, "I won't have anything on Wesneski for the next day or two." "When we do and understand it better, I'll let you know."
Wesneski was put on the injured list soon after saying that his arm hurt after starting on May 6 against the Milwaukee Brewers. In that game, he went four innings and gave up four earned runs on five hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
Before that, he skipped a start that was supposed to happen on April 30 against the Detroit Tigers, but Espada played down any health worries. Espada said on April 29 that they would give him a few more days to heal and added, "Yes, he's healthy."
It was hoped that Wesneski and Cam Smith, who were traded for Kyle Tucker from the Chicago Cubs this summer, would help stabilize the rotation. The Astros are still waiting for Luis Garcia, Cristian Javier, and Lance McCullers Jr. to return.
Wesneski made six starts this season and pitched 32 innings, with a 4.50 ERA and a 1-3 record. The team hasn't said if the 26-year-old will miss the rest of the season yet.
