A Montgomery ISD school bus crash sent eight students to the hospital for evaluation Thursday morning. The collision, which occurred at FM 2854 and Mail Rt. Road, temporarily closed the intersection as emergency medical staff assessed all students involved.
A Montgomery ISD school bus collision on Thursday morning led to the transport of eight students to the hospital for further evaluation.
A collision took place at the junction of FM 2854 and Mail Rt. Road, close to Lake Creek High School. According to a statement from the Montgomery ISD communications office, emergency medical staff assessed all students on the bus at the scene.
After the assessment, authorities took eight students to the hospital. Parents took two of the students, while emergency services transported the remaining 6. The district has not released any details regarding the students’ conditions.
The district's statement indicated that all other students were either picked up by their parents at the location or taken to school via a different bus.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office referred to the crash as a "major accident" in a post on Facebook. The collision temporarily closed all lanes at the intersection. Authorities have reopened the roadway to traffic.
District officials conveyed their appreciation for the swift action taken by emergency personnel. Officials expressed gratitude for the swift and unified actions taken by first responders and law enforcement.
