Commercial Fire Causes Traffic Alert on Koalstad Rd in Conroe Area

Fire crews, including a specialized hazardous materials unit, responded Tuesday afternoon to a fire at a chemical facility in Montgomery County, authorities said.

The blaze was reported just after 1 p.m. at the Conley Surfactant Technology plant near the intersection of Koalstad Road and Old Texaco Road. Firefighters from Montgomery County ESD 9 were first on scene and began working to contain the fire.

Crews encountered heavy smoke as they battled the blaze at the industrial site. Due to the nature of the facility, the The Woodlands Fire Department deployed its hazardous materials team to assist, indicating potential concerns about chemical exposure or dangerous substances.

Officials have not released details on what materials may have been involved or what sparked the fire.

Despite the visible smoke and hazmat response, authorities said no evacuations were ordered and no nearby neighborhoods were asked to shelter in place.

Emergency crews remained on scene working to control the fire and ensure the area was safe.

No injuries have been reported, and the extent of damage to the facility remains unclear.

For Conroe residents, this traffic alert may cause delays and disruptions to daily commutes.
