Conroe ISD Closes Superintendent Application Window, Prepares for Interviews

Conroe ISD has officially closed applications for its next superintendent as of July 18.

On July 22, the district announced that a robust pool of highly qualified candidates from both Texas and across the nation had submitted their materials. The district is progressing to the next stage of its selection process, with the board of trustees set to convene in a special session on August 5 to evaluate applications and pinpoint candidates for first-round interviews.

Although the application window is now closed, the district remains eager to collect community feedback through an online survey, which will remain open until July 28.

The board approved the superintendent search process, created in collaboration with Texans for Excellence in Education (TEE), on June 17. This process will feature opportunities for public engagement during the summer months.

On July 9, TEE President John Petree delivered a presentation highlighting a preliminary candidate profile that details the essential qualifications the board will emphasize. These include a parent-first approach, responsiveness to constituents, respect for elected governance, a focus on teacher quality, a commitment to accountability, and advocacy for local control.

District officials emphasized their commitment to selecting a candidate who embodies the community’s values and vision. The board plans to proceed with interviews in the upcoming weeks and will keep everyone informed as the process progresses.
