Flames tear through assisted-living home in Montgomery County

After a structural fire broke out at an assisted-living facility on Moonlight Trail near Shenandoah late on Saturday night, firefighters from several agencies battled a rapidly spreading blaze, officials said.

When crews arrived at the house north of FM 1488 just after 10 p.m., they found strong flames pushing through the roof, indicating the fire had already spread widely. Engine 64 was one of the first units on the scene, and the Magnolia Fire Department spearheaded the mutual aid response. Additionally, personnel from the Montgomery County Hospital District, the Woodlands Fire Department, the Conroe Fire Department, and Needham Fire & Rescue responded.

Firefighters worked for less than an hour to contain the fire after launching an aggressive attack on the flames. While workers battled the fire, many tanker units helped maintain a steady flow of water.

As firefighters focused on preventing the fire from spreading further, the late-night incident drew a sizable response from the peaceful neighborhood. Although the operation was challenging due to the fierce flames, firefighters managed to secure the area and limit the damage without any reported injuries, according to officials.

The initial reaction report stated that, upon arrival, "heavy flames" were visible through the roof. By the time crews arrived at the house, the fire was "well-advanced," according to officials.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office.

No immediate data were available regarding the magnitude of the damage.
