Montgomery County authorities are investigating the death of an 81-year-old Conroe man found with a gunshot wound and are asking the public for information to help the case.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help as they investigate the death of an 81-year-old man found Monday morning in Conroe.
Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8 a.m. to a home in the 19200 block of Trails End Road, just south of Texas 242, after receiving a report of a man found dead from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as James Blount, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Major Crimes detectives and Crime Scene Investigators arrived at the scene and launched an initial investigation. Officials have not released details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or whether foul play is suspected.
The investigation remains active, with assistance from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office, authorities said.
Investigators are now urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We are asking anyone who may have information related to this case to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office,” officials said in the release.
