Montgomery County voters cast ballots ahead of May 26 runoff

Early voting for the Texas primary runoff election is open through Friday in Montgomery County, with multiple polling sites available.

Early voting for the May 26 primary runoff election began Monday throughout Montgomery County, giving voters multiple days to submit their ballots ahead of Election Day.

Polling locations will continue to operate until Friday, with hours set from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters may cast their ballots if they are in line by closing time.

During the early voting period, registered voters in Montgomery County can cast their ballots at any designated early voting site. This arrangement provides greater flexibility compared to Election Day, when voters are required to report to their assigned precincts.

Community centers and libraries throughout the county will serve as locations, including sites in Willis, Magnolia, New Caney, Splendora, and Conroe, as well as facilities in The Woodlands and Spring. A central polling location has been established at the county library in Conroe, where a limited number of ballots are available for voters. Election Central on Airport Road is currently managing mail-in and special forms of early voting.

Residents of The Woodlands in Harris County are reminded that they can participate in early voting at any designated county location. However, on Election Day, voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct.

The upcoming runoff election is set to have a significant impact on party nominees in multiple high-profile races. Voters participating in the Republican primary will have the opportunity to select between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn for the U.S. Senate. Additionally, the ballot will feature contests for the positions of attorney general, railroad commissioner, and a seat on the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Democratic voters are set to choose their nominees for lieutenant governor and attorney general. Among the candidates in the running are Vikki Goodwin and Marcos Isaias Velez.

Winners of the runoff races are set to advance to the general election scheduled for November.

Runoff elections have been scheduled for additional dates. A joint runoff election for specific municipal races is scheduled for June 13, with early voting starting on June 1. The upcoming statewide election is scheduled for November 3, with early voting commencing on October 19.

Officials are urging voters to use early voting options to avoid long lines and scheduling issues on Election Day.
