In 2026, residents of Montgomery will have four designated weekends to dispose of heavy trash, with opportunities available throughout the spring, summer, fall, and winter seasons.
On December 30, the city’s Public Works department took to Facebook to unveil the schedule for the 2026 heavy trash weekend, detailing four two-day collection periods scheduled throughout the year. The specified weekends are March 7–8, June 6–7, September 12–13, and December 5–6.
The City of Montgomery Public Works Department has announced that the events will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. The collection process will conclude once the dumpsters are full, irrespective of the predetermined end time.
Individuals intending to take part must present evidence of their residency. To comply with city regulations, residents must present a valid Texas driver’s license in conjunction with a City of Montgomery utility bill that verifies active garbage service. Officials aim to restrict the service to Montgomery residents who subscribe to the city's sanitation services.
The city has clarified that although heavy trash weekends are intended to assist residents in disposing of large household items that regular curbside service cannot accommodate, certain materials will not be accepted. Items that are not allowed include tires, electronics, batteries, asbestos, harmful chemicals, and flammable liquids.
“These events will conclude once the dumpsters reach capacity,” the department announced in its social media update, encouraging residents to arrive early and make necessary preparations.
