A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy, Landon Slatter, 42, has resigned after being arrested on charges of online solicitation of a minor and sexual assault of a child.
Investigators say Slatter allegedly met a teenage boy on an adult hookup site and engaged in sexual encounters beginning when the victim was 15.
The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office launched an investigation in January after the boy’s mother, suspicious of his activities, placed a hidden camera in her bedroom. While reviewing footage, she saw her son, now 17, engaging in sex with an unidentified man.
Investigators searched the teen’s phone and found messages between him and multiple men, including Slatter.
According to court documents, Slatter first contacted the victim in July 2023. The two allegedly met for sex at a hotel and later at the boy’s home.
On one occasion, Slatter invited the victim to his apartment in Conroe. Despite the victim’s claim that he told Slatter he was 18, authorities say they have evidence showing Slatter knew the boy’s actual age.
Slatter was arrested Tuesday at the sheriff’s office and booked into jail with bond set at $100,000.
Wesley Doolittle, the sheriff of Montgomery County, said. "Service means protecting our community, especially the most vulnerable."
One count against Slatter is online solicitation of a minor, which is a third-degree crime. The other count is sexual assault of a child, which is a second-degree felony. The police said that more charges could be brought.
Police said his bond was set at $100,000. It's not clear when he has to go back to court.
Authorities are investigating at least two other men who may have been involved with the victim.
