The USPS will hold a virtual job fair on Friday to hire rural mail carriers in the Conroe area. The service needs to hire more people to keep up with the rising demand for deliveries.
The online hiring event will be held via Zoom from 10 a.m. to noon and will cover current and future job openings, salaries, perks, training, and ways to advance your career, according to the announcement.
"The United States Postal Service is making stable job opportunities available to serve communities across the country," the job fair notice said. "We are hiring more people to help us meet the needs of our growing customer base and carry out our mission to provide trustworthy, dependable, and on-time mail and package services."
Officials said that the event directly targets rural carrier jobs in the Conroe area. The jobs start at $21.89 an hour and offer some government benefits for workers.
The hiring drive comes as the USPS continues to deal with more packages and changing delivery needs in both cities and rural areas. In 2025, the agency said it had more than 530,000 employees across the country.
People who want to participate can sign up for the virtual session on the USPS website and apply for open roles through the agency's careers portal.
Rural carriers are critical for delivering mail and packages to places that lack easy access, especially in growing areas like Montgomery County.
Officials told people seeking employment to attend the session to learn how to apply and get hired.
