With several new features this year, the 2026 Montgomery County Fair begins on Thursday at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. It is a 10-day festival that combines live music, rodeo action, and kid showcases.
With over 75,000 attendees and a history dating back to 1957, the fair, which runs through April 19, remains the county's biggest annual event. According to the organizers, the event's goal remains to encourage young people in the area through competitions and scholarships. Montgomery County students have received awards totaling over $2 million since 1993.
This year's new weekend event, "Faith at the Fair," is set for April 12. A cowboy church service kicks off the day, followed by an evening lineup of Christian performers and a charitable showcase.
According to event materials, "this inaugural event will bring people together for a day of encouragement, connection, and joy."
"Parking will be free this year, and we're excited to offer that to everyone," Executive Director Tobin Redwine added, announcing a change that is likely to attract large numbers.
At nine in the morning, the fair officially opens. Thursday is Senior Citizens Day. Later that afternoon, the carnival will start. A "Blessing of the Barns," where supporters gathered in prayer before the event, was one of the pre-fair activities.
The biggest draw is still entertainment. Singer-songwriter Tanner Usrey will play on April 11 after Texas country music star Roger Creager on April 10. During the first weekend of the fair, rodeo events are accompanied by concerts.
The 2026 fair queen's coronation at the Saturday night rodeo on April 11 is another event. There are twenty-two high school juniors from all over the county vying for the crown.
The Montgomery County BBQ Cook-off, a rodeo and concert weekend, and "El Día de la Familia Hispana" on the last day will all take place at the fairgrounds.
Peak dates, such as April 10–12 and April 17–19, require tickets. Adult admission is $15 online or $20 at the gate; children's admission is discounted. Access to concerts and rodeo events is included with admission on certain days.
Both the north and south ends of the fairgrounds will have spacious parking lots, which are now free for all visitors, according to organizers.
As the long-running festival continues to grow, authorities anticipate another high turnout with additional programming and increased access.
