Montgomery County Food Bank celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025, honoring four decades of combating hunger and providing more than 9 million meals annually to local needy families.
The Montgomery County Food Bank has been around for 40 years and is a significant group that works to end food insecurity in the area. Betty Hardy started the movement in 1985 as a kind act. It has grown into a community-driven movement that gives out over 9 million meals yearly.
The president and CEO of the Montgomery County Food Bank, Kristine Marlow, thought about the critical event. "The food bank's history shows how much people in our community care about helping those in need." "Without you, we couldn't feed more than 80,000 kids, seniors, and families every month," she said.
The food bank has made a lot of progress in the fight against hunger over the last forty years. Marlow stressed, though, that more help was needed. "We’ve come a long way in the fight against hunger, but there is still important work to be done," she said.
The food bank wants to celebrate its 40th anniversary with many events and projects to get people involved and bring attention to its goal. More information about these events will be made public in the coming months.
The group is still dedicated to ensuring that no one in Montgomery County goes hungry, even as it looks to the future. The milestone celebrates what has been done and calls on the community to continue helping in the years to come.
