Lone Star College System has appointed Dr. Carlos R. Morales as the inaugural president of its online division, LSC-Online, effective July 14.
Lone Star College announced earlier this week that Carlos R. Morales will be the inaugural president of LSC-Online, effective July 14. This move comes as the college expands its virtual campus offerings.
Morales holds the position of campus president at Tarrant County College's TCC Connect Campus located in Fort Worth. With a robust background in virtual education leadership, he boasts over twenty years of experience in the higher education sector. Morales has earned a bachelor's degree in biology/microbiology and a master's degree in education from Inter American University in Puerto Rico. Additionally, Morales holds a doctorate in education from Capella University.
In his new role as the leader of LSC-Online, Morales has outlined a clear agenda to enhance student access, foster greater faculty involvement, and utilize emerging technologies to elevate online learning results.
“The demand for and the growth of virtual learning is evident to everyone in higher education,” Morales stated. “I plan to enhance the robust framework of Lone Star College-Online by developing a virtual campus that prioritizes students, maintains high academic standards, and earns recognition for its excellence.”
Seelpa Keshvala, the Executive Vice Chancellor of Lone Star College, has expressed strong confidence in Morales's ability to steer the college's future online education initiatives.
“I am confident that Dr. Morales will continue to build upon the good work of the Lone Star College-Online team by enhancing the quality of our online education, while upholding the rigorous academic standards our students deserve,” stated Keshvala.
The announcement arrives amid online education's rising prominence and significance throughout Texas and the country. Morales' appointment is viewed as a calculated move to establish LSC-Online as a frontrunner in virtual education.
