Conroe ISD is inviting community feedback on the 2025-26 spring break dates following concerns about alignment with Lone Star College and other institutions. A final decision will be discussed in January.
The Conroe Independent School District (CISD) wants the public's help in choosing when spring break will be in 2025–2026. The board meeting on December 17 discussed possible schedule issues with Lone Star College (LSC) and other Texas universities.
The current CISD calendar for 2025–26 puts spring break in a different week than most colleges and school districts in the area. This could affect LSC students who are taking classes for dual credit.
Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Hedith Sauceda-Upshaw told the board about spring break plans across Texas. Most school districts and universities choose March 16–20 as their break week. CISD's present dates are different, which could mean that dual-credit students have a two-week gap.
Superintendent Curtis Null stressed how important it was to work with LSC's plan so that students would have as few problems as possible: "If we are not aligned with Lone Star, it creates problems for our dual-credit classes."
Trustees had different ideas about when the choice should be made. Some people wanted action right away to help families who were planning, while others wanted more input from the community.
The District Planning Committee will meet on January 15 to talk about what the public has said and make suggestions for the final spring break plan. People in the area are welcome to give their opinions as the school district tries to make a final schedule that works for both students and families.
