A 3-year-old girl was killed and two others critically injured in a fiery crash Sunday night on Interstate 45. A Conroe man now faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and assault.

After a terrible crash on Sunday night that killed a 3-year-old girl and seriously hurt her mother and sister, a 55-year-old man from Conroe has been charged with intoxication murder and two counts of intoxication assault.
The accident happened at 8:15 p.m. in the 15000 block of Interstate 45. When the first officers got there, they saw two cars on fire, according to the Conroe Police Department.
Police say Donald Carson was driving north in his Honda Civic when he hit a Toyota Camry parked on the shoulder with a flat tire. The Camry was carrying a mother of two young girls, aged 26 and 26.
People on the street were able to pull the mother and her 5-year-old daughter out of the burning car, but the 3-year-old child died at the scene. The victims who were still alive were taken to a hospital in Houston with injuries that could kill them. Carson was also hurt, and he will be taken to the Montgomery County Jail as soon as he is released from the hospital.
"This accident could have been avoided at all costs, and it's a terrible loss," Conroe Police Chief Jon Buckholtz said Monday. "Yet another drunk driver's actions have taken away a child's life, which was full of promise."
While the investigation is still going on, the police are warning drivers about the long-lasting effects of driving while intoxicated.
