A Conroe man who opened fire inside a Woodlands pub after a fight has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The shooting in February 2025 wounded three people.

A man from Conroe has received a 10-year prison sentence after admitting guilt to shooting three individuals during a confrontation at Goose’s Acre pub in The Woodlands last year, as reported by court documents.
Calvin Sanders, 28, has entered a guilty plea on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon related to a shooting incident that occurred on February 23, 2025, inside a local pub. Officials reported that the altercation began after a dispute between Sanders and another individual, which escalated into a physical confrontation in the bar.
In a recent confrontation, authorities reported that Sanders brandished a firearm and discharged it, resulting in injuries to three individuals. One of the individuals affected was the man who engaged in the altercation with Sanders. The incident also injured two additional individuals caught in the crossfire.
Patrons within the bar swiftly took action following the outbreak of gunfire. Authorities report that bystanders intervened and restrained Sanders until law enforcement officers arrived on the scene.
Following the sentencing, there was no immediate response from Sanders's attorney regarding a request for comment.
Montgomery County law enforcement officials emphasized after the shooting that there is no broader threat to public safety. Authorities have reported that the recent violence was the result of a conflict between specific individuals, rather than an indiscriminate assault.
Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon spoke at a news conference shortly after the shooting, highlighting the rarity of incidents involving multiple victims in the region.
“This type of violence resulting in multiple victims is exceedingly rare,” stated Ligon. “Public shootings are not a concern in our community.” Alcohol, anger, and a weapon were present at the scene.
Ligon emphasized that the majority of shootings in Montgomery County usually stem from conflicts between two individuals, frequently linked to domestic violence scenarios rather than wider public occurrences.
The shooting on February 23 has garnered significant attention due to the high number of injuries and the incident's occurrence within a packed bar. Officials emphasized that residents should not worry about any ongoing public safety threats related to the case.
The criminal case concerning the shooting has reached a conclusion following Sanders' guilty plea and subsequent sentencing.
