Conroe Neighborhoods Hit Hard by Overnight Storms and Lightning

On Tuesday morning, residents in Conroe faced an aftermath of fallen trees, scattered storm debris, and extensive damage following a series of powerful storms that moved through the area overnight.

In a report by KHOU 11’s Victor Jacobo, it was revealed that a neighborhood located just south of FM 1488 experienced severe weather conditions. Strong winds and intense lightning caused the downing of large branches and trees, resulting in blocked roads and property damage.

To the south, The Woodlands experienced fire damage attributed to lightning strikes. Firefighters swiftly addressed a fire that erupted in the attic of a residence on Bennett Lane within the Stillwater subdivision. The incident is suspected to have been ignited by a lightning strike. The Woodlands Fire Department swiftly responded to the blaze, effectively minimizing damage to the surrounding area.

In Paradise Valley, located in nearby Harris County, trees have collapsed onto homes, prompting the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office to release images showcasing the extent of the damage.

The storm resulted in extensive power outages across the region.

As of 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, CenterPoint Energy has reported over 87,000 power outages, while Entergy has recorded an additional 26,000 outages affecting areas from Conroe to Beaumont.

The outlook provides little in the way of relief. Weather forecasts indicate a significant likelihood of rain, with a 60% probability of storms expected on Tuesday and the potential for continued storm activity extending through Thursday.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant as cleanup efforts progress and to brace for additional rainfall and possible flooding later this week.
