A construction worker was rescued Monday morning after suffering a medical emergency while working 60 feet above ground at the new Timber Mill High School site in Conroe. Fire crews safely lowered the man and transported him to a local hospital.

On Monday, a construction worker was successfully rescued following a medical emergency that occurred while he was working approximately 60 feet above ground at the Timber Mill High School construction site, according to officials.
Emergency responders from the Conroe Fire Department arrived at the campus at 2700 North Loop 336 East at approximately 11:45 a.m., following a call to dispatchers about the incident, as reported by the department.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a worker positioned on scaffolding at a significant height above the ground. Emergency crews formulated a strategic plan to access the individual, administer necessary medical treatment, and ensure a safe descent to the ground.
The worker's identity has not been disclosed. Authorities have refrained from revealing details regarding the medical emergency or the individual's current condition. A local hospital has received a patient for further evaluation and care following an incident.
Fire Chief Paul Sims commended the response efforts.
Sims praised the team's performance, stating, “The guys did a stellar job,” in an interview with the Houston Chronicle. “They engage in rigorous training for this type of situation on a regular basis.” Preparation was evident among the individuals involved.
The event took place at the site of the district's latest high school, a $340 million facility currently under construction. Construction at Timber Mill High School commenced last year, with an anticipated completion date set for August 2027.
The upcoming school is projected to accommodate approximately 3,800 students, aiming to alleviate overcrowding in the attendance zones of Conroe and Caney Creek high schools. The district is set to welcome its eighth high school.
The initiative is included in the Conroe Independent School District’s $1.9 billion bond referendum, which passed in 2023. District officials have allocated approximately $1 billion from the bond package for the construction of new schools while setting aside $132 million for significant renovations of existing campuses. Over $22 million has been designated for the acquisition of new buses and the enhancement of bus infrastructure.
Construction activities resumed at the site on Monday after the successful rescue operation. There have been no further reports of injuries.
