County Clerk’s Office in Conroe to Open Saturday for Back-to-School Birth Certificate Rush

Families in Montgomery County gearing up for the new school year will have a unique chance to secure important documents this weekend. County Clerk L. Brandon Steinmann has announced that the Conroe office will be open on Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This special opening is designed to help residents request Texas birth certificates before school enrollment.

The County Clerk’s Office, located at 210 West Davis Street in Conroe, will host a special one-day event with extended hours.

“The return to school doesn’t need to mean a continuous cycle of stress throughout the week,” stated Clerk Steinmann. “Allow us to handle your paperwork so that you can return to your weekend in no time.”

The Saturday opening seeks to alleviate the burden on working parents and caregivers who often struggle to make visits during standard business hours. To ease the registration process for schools, the county is taking steps to improve access to official birth certificates, aiming to reduce any last-minute pressures for families.

The County Clerk’s Office advises visitors to arrive ready for a seamless experience. To obtain the birth certificate, it is essential that the child was born in Texas. Only the individual named on the certificate, a legal representative, or an immediate family member can make the request.

A valid photo identification is required and may include a Texas driver's license, state or federal identification, U.S. passport, or military identification. You can find a comprehensive list of acceptable forms of identification on the Texas Department of State Health Services website: www.dshs.texas.gov/vital-statistics/acceptable-identification-id.

Applicants are required to bring a filled-out birth certificate application, available in the office lobby, and should be prepared to pay the $23 fee using cash, credit/debit card, or check.

Residents who cannot attend in person can take advantage of a secure online option for requesting birth certificates through the County Clerk’s Office at https://montgomerytxvitals.permitium.com.

“Requesting birth certificates online has never been easier,” Steinmann stated. “Our team handles them right here, allowing residents to opt for shipping or pick them up in person whenever it suits them.”

The County Clerk’s initiative underscores an increasing commitment to enhance the accessibility and responsiveness of vital public services for busy families, particularly during the peak back-to-school period.
