The 8th Annual Texas Custom Knife Show returns to Conroe on Nov. 8–9, featuring over 75 exhibitors, interactive contests, and a live appearance by Forged in Fire’s J. Nielson.

Fans of forged steel, collectors, and bladesmiths will all be in Conroe next month for the 8th Annual Texas Custom Knife Show. Judge on “Forged in Fire” and master bladesmith J. Nielson will be there.
The event will take place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, located 22 miles north of Houston, on November 8 and 9. There will be more than 75 exhibitors, hands-on activities, and new competition events for knife fans of all levels, according to the organizers of the show.
Custom knife makers from all over the state will be competing for the top prizes in several categories, such as best bowie, pocket knife, tomahawk, and fixed blade. This year, there will be a new Open Class Award to honor bigger or more unusual cutting weapons. The change is because more and more makers and fans are interested.
People who go can also do things like throw tomahawks, visit a "Make It and Take It" booth where they can make their own souvenir blade with help from an expert, and see the first "Every Day Carry Challenge." The new timed obstacle course tests people's skills by having them use their everyday carry knives rather than specialized cutting blades.
Nielson, who is renowned for his role on the original History Channel show "Forged in Fire," will lead a live Q&A to discuss the popular competition show and answer fan questions. He will also be the head judge for the "Battle of the Blades" at the Texas Custom Knife Show. This contest is a live competition between four swordsmiths from the area. Two weeks before the show, the contestants will learn how to make their blades, and Nielson will test them on stage for style, strength, and cutting ability.
There will be both a live and a silent auction to raise money for the Operation Red Wings Foundation, which helps U.S. soldiers deal with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. You can bid on the Battle of the Blades knives and other items that sellers and sponsors have generously given away.
The Texas Custom Knife Show is the last independent knife show of 2025. It is the perfect place for fans and holiday shoppers to find one-of-a-kind blades and handcrafted goods before the end of the year.
