Former Conroe City Secretary Soco Gorjon has filed a second lawsuit against the city, accusing Mayor Duke Coon and Mayor Pro Tem Harry Hardman of sexual harassment and discrimination. The case was filed against the city. The case, which was submitted on February 19 in the United States Southern District of Texas, asserts that Gorjon was paid less than she should have been because she is a Hispanic woman and that both officials made inappropriate comments to her.
Coon allegedly made numerous statements about wanting to marry Gorjon, including the statement that his "Hispanic mother would be proud" if he married a Hispanic woman. Gordon, who was placed on leave in April 2023 and later terminated, claimed that Coon made these statements. During the hunting expedition, the suit also asserts that Hardman made a comment that was not acceptable.
Gorjon is seeking financial compensation after her layoff, according to Coon, who dismissed the allegations as "meritless" throughout the conversation. Hardman also refuted the charges, who stated, "The statements attributed to me do not reflect who I am or how I feel."
Gorjon had already filed a lawsuit against the city for her termination, but she was unsuccessful. In this latest action, the plaintiff seeks compensation for claimed discrimination and harassment in the workplace. There is no formal reaction that has been provided by the city.
