From rock opera to tree giveaways: Weekend events planned in Conroe area

This weekend, residents in the Conroe and Montgomery area can look forward to a diverse lineup of events, including live theater performances, book gatherings, wellness workshops, and family-friendly outdoor activities.

Audiences can look forward to a highlighted performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” brought to life by The Players Theatre Company at The Owen Theatre in downtown Conroe. The production has been characterized as “a rock opera loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, chronicling the final week of Jesus Christ’s life.” Scheduled performances will take place on March 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and on March 15 at 2 p.m. Admission prices will range from $21 to $30.

Book enthusiasts are invited to attend Readers’ Night: Alamo Day on March 13, from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will be held at 400 Bryant Road in Conroe. A free event is set to welcome readers for a book exchange, offering the opportunity to browse merchandise from local vendors while supporting community authors.

The upcoming Wellness Expo will highlight health and wellness and take place on March 14-15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center. The upcoming event is set to showcase a wide array of vendors offering services for the body, mind, and spirit. 

Organizers have announced that attendees will have the opportunity to explore 80 wellness vendors in Conroe. Additionally, the event will feature a lecture series comprising 22 free talks and two paid workshops, providing valuable educational sessions for all participants. Ticket prices for admission vary, ranging from approximately $10 to $12, depending on the selected options.

Community members are invited to celebrate rodeo season at Fiesta Hacienda Mis Padres Mexican Grill on March 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. The upcoming event will showcase live music, an exciting horse show, line dancing, and enticing drink specials. Entry is complimentary.

The Trees and Me Workshop invites families and educators interested in environmental education to participate on March 14.On March 14, families and educators interested in environmental education are invited to participate in the Trees and Me Workshop. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Conroe. The workshop features interactive learning opportunities aimed at fostering a connection between children and the natural world. 

According to organizers, the upcoming program will include 12 activities and more than 250 learning experiences aimed at fostering connections between children and nature, with a particular emphasis on the importance of trees. The registration fee of $20 encompasses training materials, a Trees & Me guide, and refreshments for participants.

On March 14, the Arbor Day event in Willis will feature free tree giveaways from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., courtesy of Montgomery County Master Gardener volunteers. Residents will receive gardening advice and tips from community volunteers.
