Grand Oaks Incident Follows Fatal December Attack at Sterling High

A student was hospitalized on Monday following a stabbing incident at Grand Oaks High School. This marks the second school stabbing in the region recently, raising concerns among parents and educators throughout Southeast Texas.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating in collaboration with the Conroe ISD Police Department. Authorities reported that a student sustained three superficial stab wounds and received treatment at a nearby hospital. Authorities have apprehended a second juvenile.

Principal Fred Black reassured parents in an email that there is currently “no ongoing threat” to the campus. He stated that administrators responded promptly following the report of the altercation.

“Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff remains our foremost priority,” stated Black. The principal continued to say that “we address incidents of this nature with the utmost seriousness and will implement the necessary disciplinary measures in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.”

District officials have chosen not to disclose further information, referencing the importance of student privacy protections. Authorities have confirmed that both individuals involved in the incident are minors.

Monday's incident comes on the heels of a tragic stabbing that occurred in December at Sterling High School in Baytown. Authorities have charged 18-year-old Aundre Matthews with murder following an incident in which he allegedly stabbed 16-year-old Andrew Meismer in the neck with scissors. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a missing vape pen. In January, a judge ruled against granting bail for Matthews.

The two cases, occurring in distinct districts and under varying circumstances, have heightened scrutiny regarding campus safety protocols and student discipline policies.

Officials at Grand Oaks confirmed that classes resumed on Monday in accordance with standard protocols, with an increased law enforcement presence as a precaution.

Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the confrontation or indicated if additional charges beyond juvenile detention are forthcoming.

The inquiry at Grand Oaks High School continues to progress. Officials are asking the public to contact local law enforcement with any information they have.
