Winter weather is forecasted to hit Montgomery County early next week, bringing Hard Freeze temperatures and possible winter precipitation. Officials urge residents to prepare.
Montgomery County is getting ready for winter weather to return next week, when temperatures are expected to drop below the Hard Freeze level and snow is possible.
At 8:18 p.m. on January 14, the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management sent out a message telling people to be careful. "We expect winter weather to return next week, with very cold temperatures and the chance of winter rain." Plan ahead to keep people, plants, pets, and lines safe. The news service said, "More information as the forecast gets clearer."
Earlier in the day, the U.S. National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston also warned of the coming cold front. They said, "Hard Freeze temperatures and very low wind chill values are likely to bring very cold weather to SE Texas early next week." They are keeping a close eye on the weather for possible winter snow and are encouraging people to stay up to date as forecasts change.
To get ready for winter, the government says to insulate any exposed lines, bring pets inside, and make sure plants are covered. People in the area are being told to keep an eye on the weather and be careful when it might be icy.
As more information about the coming weather event comes in, stay tuned for more updates from the National Weather Service and local governments.
