More than 2,000 custom vehicles will roll into Conroe for the Lone Star Throwdown this weekend, prompting a multi-agency law enforcement task force aimed at preventing street racing, parking lot takeovers, and drunken driving.

The Lone Star Throwdown truck show is set to return to Conroe this weekend, showcasing over 2,000 custom-built vehicles. Attendees can expect an increased law enforcement presence throughout Montgomery County and the surrounding areas.
The upcoming three-day event, recognized as one of the largest truck shows in the United States, is set to take place at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center, along with the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, located at 9255 Airport Road. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has announced the relaunch of a coordinated task force, named Operation Zero Traction, aimed at addressing illegal activities associated with the event.
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle established a task force in 2025 after receiving over 30 calls in 2024 regarding parking lot takeovers in the areas of Willis and Shenandoah. Officials have confirmed occurrences of property damage, vehicular accidents, and incidents of driving under the influence during previous events.
During a news conference on Thursday, Doolittle addressed concerns raised by the community regarding incidents of property damage and driving while intoxicated associated with the annual Lone Star Throwdown event. "Over the last couple of years, we recognized these issues as the community has made us aware," he stated.
In the previous year, law enforcement officials conducted 576 traffic stops, issuing 170 citations and 353 warnings. Additionally, 59 individuals were arrested on various charges, including impaired driving, outstanding warrants, racing, reckless driving, weapons offenses, and narcotics possession, as reported by the sheriff’s office. In a recent operation, authorities confiscated a total of 41 vehicles along with six firearms.
Doolittle pointed out that it takes collaboration to ensure community safety.
The show's organizers did not respond to the information request.
Conroe Police Chief Jon Buckholtz stated that the event, established in Conroe in 2012, offers a substantial economic advantage to the area.
“This annual event attracts numerous hotels throughout our city and significantly enhances the economic activity of local businesses and restaurants,” Buckholtz stated. Officials express gratitude for the arrival of visitors, highlighting the benefits they bring to the community. Authorities have made it clear that they will not tolerate any illegal or dangerous behavior. Poor choices will result in consequences.
Although Houston Police Assistant Chief Andrian Rodriguez permits the truck show, any associated criminal activity will trigger law enforcement action.
“Those who wish to join in the celebration are invited to attend.” “If you come to break the law, expect enforcement,” stated Rodriguez.
Operation Zero Traction involves collaboration among the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the police departments of Conroe, Shenandoah, Willis, and Montgomery, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, encompassing all five county entities. The constables' offices, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the Houston Police Department, the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving, are all part of the initiative.
Montgomery County District Attorney Mike Holley announced that prosecutors are prepared to move forward with charges, specifically targeting offenses such as driving while intoxicated, street racing, and evading arrest.
