Motorcycle-Car Crash Closes Hwy 242 Intersection Monday Afternoon

A crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle snarled traffic along one of Conroe's busiest east-west corridors Monday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Police Reporter. The collision was reported at approximately 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of College Park Drive and State Highway 242 near Maverick Way, a stretch that sees heavy commuter volume connecting Conroe to The Woodlands and points south.

For Conroe residents, this intersection is a daily chokepoint. Hwy 242 serves as a primary route for drivers moving between central Conroe, the Conroe ISD school zone near College Park, and the commercial corridors leading toward The Woodlands. A midday crash there can back up traffic well past the surrounding surface streets, adding significant time to afternoon commutes and school pickup runs.

The south Montgomery County location puts the incident close to communities that rely heavily on this corridor — including drivers coming from Willis and Pinehurst heading south, and those cutting across from the Lake Conroe area toward Loop 336 or I-45. Emergency responders from the area were dispatched to the scene Monday afternoon.

Motorcycle-involved crashes on high-speed suburban roads like Hwy 242 carry elevated injury risk. The roadway's mix of commercial driveways, turning traffic, and posted speeds creates conditions that safety advocates consistently flag as hazardous for two-wheeled riders. Montgomery County has seen a pattern of serious motorcycle crashes along its major arterials in recent years, particularly during summer months when recreational riding increases.

Drivers in the area Monday were advised to seek alternate routes. No official road closure duration was announced at the time of the initial report, so conditions may have shifted through the afternoon rush.
