A 24-year-old Conroe father was killed in a crash involving a Conroe ISD police officer last week. Investigators say the officer was turning into the district headquarters when the collision occurred. The victim’s family is now grieving his loss.

A family in Conroe is mourning the loss of a 24-year-old father of two, who tragically lost his life in a collision with a Conroe ISD police officer last week.
Officials have officially identified the victim as Patrick Freeland, and family members have confirmed that he leaves behind two young daughters.
Local officials from Conroe ISD police have verified that the tragic accident took place last Tuesday while one of their officers was on the way back to district headquarters on North Loop 336 East. Authorities reported that the officer was heading north and tried to make a left turn into the driveway of the headquarters.
A motorcyclist heading south approached the intersection simultaneously. According to initial reports from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Conroe Police Department, which are still looking into the matter, the two vehicles collided as the officer made the turn.
Freeland succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Relatives portrayed him as a committed spouse and a loving father to his two young daughters, aged 2 and 5. Anjel Rodriguez, his wife, shared that she has already had to discuss the tragedy with their eldest child.
“Our focus right now is on ensuring [the children] are happy during this period,” Rodriguez shared with FOX 26. “Even in hindsight, it is important to maintain their happiness since they are still so young.” We will ensure that his legacy is unforgettable.
The school district has yet to disclose the identity of the officer involved and has refrained from providing additional comments as the investigation continues to unfold. The sheriff’s office and Conroe police are set to assess if any charges will be filed following the completion of the crash reconstruction.
Community members are coming together to express their sympathies and provide support to the family during this difficult time. The details regarding the funeral arrangements are still pending announcement.
