Hospitals across the Houston region welcomed their first babies of 2026 within minutes of the New Year, with healthy newborns arriving at Memorial Hermann, Texas Children’s Hospital, St. Luke’s Health, and Houston Methodist facilities.

New Year babies arrive across Houston hospitals

As the clock struck midnight, hospitals throughout the Houston area welcomed the New Year with a surge in births. This trend continued into the early morning hours, according to hospital officials.

A heartwarming start to the new year occurred when baby girl Julia arrived at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital precisely at midnight, becoming the hospital's first baby of the year. Julia's birth weight was recorded at 10 pounds, 5 ounces, with hospital officials confirming that both mother and baby are in excellent health.

In the early hours, at precisely 12:42 a.m., baby boy Robin made his entrance into the world, marking the first male birth at Children’s Memorial Hermann in 2026.

Memorial Hermann Health System announced an increase in New Year arrivals across its various locations. At Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, a baby boy named Adriel made his entrance into the world at 12:28 a.m., weighing in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces. At Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, baby girl Romi made her entrance at 12:59 a.m., concluding the system’s first-hour celebrations.

“Welcoming babies at the start of a new year holds a unique significance for our teams,” stated a spokesperson from Memorial Hermann. “This marks a delightful start to the year for both families and staff.”

At Texas Children’s Hospital, the New Year welcomed a new arrival as Elina made her debut at 1:42 a.m., born to proud parents Amal and Tareq. Elina arrived weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches in length, with reports indicating she is in good health.

In a joyful turn of events, baby girl Hannah made her grand entrance into the world at 3:40 p.m. today. Hannah's measurements revealed a length of 21 inches and a weight of 6 pounds, 15 ounces. According to hospital officials, Hannah and her parents, Jessica and Tyler, are in good condition.

In Montgomery County, St. Luke’s Health is making strides in the community. Just moments after the clock struck midnight, The Woodlands Hospital proudly announced the arrival of its first baby of the year. Myla Mae made her entrance into the world at 12:12 a.m., weighing in at 5 pounds, 15 ounces, and measuring a length of 19.5 inches. Chancy and Loga, the proud parents, have been reported to be in excellent condition, along with their newborn.

In the meantime, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital proudly announced the arrival of its first baby at 12:26 a.m. New Year births were recorded throughout the Houston Methodist system, with arrivals noted at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital at 12:45 a.m. and Houston Methodist West Hospital at 7:28 a.m.

Hospital officials throughout the region reported that mothers and babies are thriving, marking the initial hours of 2026 as a joyous celebration of fresh starts.
