Authorities reported that a suspected burglary in progress at an autism school early Tuesday morning concluded with a quick arrest, as deputies arrived on the scene within minutes.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., an incident occurred at the Thrive Center for Success Autism School, in the 16000 block of Dobbin Huffsmith Road. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported that an employee monitoring a live surveillance feed observed a suspect breaking into a facility that contains the property’s water supply pump and promptly alerted law enforcement.
Officials reported that District 4 patrol deputies arrived at the scene in just 3 minutes. As deputies drew near, the suspect attempted to escape on foot, leading to a swift perimeter response from additional units.
Officials reported that the collaborative initiative resulted in the swift apprehension of the suspect in close proximity.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 39-year-old Dominick Mazzarella. Detectives from the Property Crimes Unit conducted a thorough investigation, leading to Mazzarella's arrest and subsequent transport to the Montgomery County Jail.
He is currently facing charges related to the burglary of a building, as well as evading arrest or detention.
Authorities highlighted the importance of immediate monitoring and swift action to avert additional harm. “Deputies arrived … in a mere three minutes,” the sheriff’s office stated, emphasizing the swift coordination that resulted in the arrest.
