Conroe has approved a $76 million contract with Frontier Waste Solutions for garbage collection, ending its existing partnership with Waste Management.
The City of Conroe has entered into a $76 million agreement with Frontier Waste Solutions, a Dallas-based company, for garbage collection services, transitioning from its existing provider, Waste Management.
The contract, which has been approved for a duration of five years and includes three one-year renewal options, is scheduled to commence in October.
The decision comes after a request for proposals was made in April, following Waste Management, the largest waste removal company in the nation, suggesting an extension of its current contract until 2030 with a 3.8% price increase.
Conroe's existing contract with Waste Management, initiated in October 2017, features a 1.9% automatic annual rate increase, capped at 5%.
Frontier's choice marks the beginning of a new era for the city's residential and small commercial waste services.
The University of Houston's School of Theatre & Dance has announced its 2025-26 season, featuring an exciting range of performances from classical adaptations like Frankenstein to vibrant student works and musical theatre.
The Conroe City Council has approved a $381 million budget for 2026, granting a 6% raise for all city employees but rejecting a 10% pay increase for police officers. The budget also includes a water and sewer fee hike, with new plans to impose developer impact fees by 2027 to offset infrastructure costs.
