During a warrant investigation in The Woodlands, a suspect's truck dragged a Montgomery County constable deputy to the hospital with minor injuries on Friday.
A constable deputy from Montgomery County was taken to the hospital on Friday after being pulled over by a vehicle during the execution of a search warrant in The Woodlands, according to officials.
Officers from Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable’s Office were investigating in the 29100 block of I-45 when they tried to reach out to a man inside a truck thought to be linked to the case. Authorities report that the individual, identified as 37-year-old Daniel Matthew Irwin, did not comply with multiple requests to leave his vehicle.
As the deputy attempted to escort Irwin away physically, officials reported that he became confrontational. Irwin then shifted his truck into drive and accelerated, momentarily pulling the deputy along before speeding away from the area.
The deputy suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands for care.
A swift response from various law enforcement agencies ensued. Authorities subsequently located the suspect's vehicle in the 2300 block of South Millbend Drive in The Woodlands.
Irwin was taken into custody without any additional complications and faces charges for assaulting a law enforcement officer. Officials reported that he has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
