Authorities reported that during a four-day enforcement initiative for New Year’s, five drivers were arrested for DWI-related charges, highlighting efforts to enhance roadway safety throughout Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office collaborated with various law enforcement agencies throughout the county to implement a coordinated New Year’s DWI Task Force. This initiative aimed to identify impaired drivers and mitigate alcohol-related accidents, according to officials.
The initiative highlighted the importance of heightened patrols, traffic stops, and collaboration among agencies during one of the most hectic and perilous periods on local roads. Officials from Precinct 2 characterized the operation as a form of “proactive enforcement,” aimed at preventing impaired driving and averting serious accidents before they happen.
The constable’s office reported that a four-day operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals on DWI-related charges. Authorities have identified those arrested as Antonio Fennell, 21, from Conroe; Marilyn Abbs, 47, from The Woodlands; Joshua Huff, 25, from Humble; Christina Yonkeu, 28, from Magnolia; and Miyah Hughes, 23, from Fresno.
Authorities reported that, alongside a DWI-related offense, Hughes faced charges for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, classified as a second-degree felony. No additional information about blood alcohol levels or previous convictions has been disclosed.
Authorities emphasized that the recent arrests point out the vital need for visible enforcement and collaboration among agencies during holiday seasons, a time when incidents of impaired driving typically rise. Law enforcement officials highlighted that driving under the influence poses a significant risk not just to the driver but also to passengers, pedestrians, and fellow motorists on the road.
The constable’s office emphasized in a statement, “Driving while intoxicated puts lives at risk,” highlighting that impaired driving continues to be a major factor in serious crashes and traffic fatalities across Texas.
Officials from Precinct 2 have reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring roadway safety and urged residents to exercise caution and responsibility during their celebrations. Officials are advising motorists to prepare in advance by selecting a designated sober driver, organizing a ride-share, or utilizing other safe transportation options when consuming alcohol.
Multiple agency task forces will remain active throughout the year, particularly during significant holidays and busy weekends. This initiative is part of a sustained effort to decrease accidents and enhance public safety on the roads of Montgomery County.
