Officials confirmed that a student at Grand Oaks High School was hospitalized on Tuesday morning following an incident on campus that resulted in three shallow stab wounds during a fight.
An altercation occurred at approximately 9 a.m., as reported in an alert sent to parents. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the school to assist the injured student, after which they transported him to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the student is currently receiving medical attention.
School administrators have successfully identified the suspect and have taken the student into custody. The Conroe ISD Police Department is currently leading the investigation, with support from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Officials from the district have confirmed that there is currently no threat to the safety of students or staff.
Fred Black, the principal of Grand Oaks High School, emphasized that ensuring campus safety remains the district's top priority.
In a recent statement, Black emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and staff remain the foremost priority. “Incidents of this nature are treated with utmost seriousness, and necessary disciplinary measures will be implemented in line with the Student Code of Conduct.”
Conroe ISD has issued a statement acknowledging the incident and commending the response from law enforcement officials.
The district expressed gratitude for the prompt and coordinated efforts of law enforcement partners, noting that their actions were crucial to containing the situation swiftly and safely.
Authorities have confirmed that the parents of both students involved have been informed.
Officials have yet to disclose the identities or ages of the students implicated in the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the events leading up to the altercation.
District leaders have called on families to talk with their children about the importance of making safe choices and the need to report any concerns to trusted adults as the investigation progresses.
