The Michelin Guide Texas will host its second awards ceremony Oct. 28 at Houston’s Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, where chefs will learn whether their restaurants earn coveted stars or other distinctions.
The Michelin Guide Texas is set to hold its 2025 awards ceremony on October 28 at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts. Chefs from all corners of the state will come together to discover if their restaurants have achieved one of the prestigious stars or other accolades from the guide. Officials have announced that attendance will be limited to those who receive an invitation.
The event signifies the second consecutive year that the global culinary guide has acknowledged dining establishments in Texas. In 2024, the guide emerged in Texas, showcasing dining establishments in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Fort Worth.
“The previous year was a significant turning point for the Texas restaurant scene, and we are thrilled to keep honoring the remarkable culinary skills of the state at this year’s event,” stated Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide.
Michelin inspectors assess dining establishments through five fundamental standards: the quality of the products, the skill in cooking methods, the balance of flavors, the chef's unique character expressed in the dishes, and the reliability of the menu both in variety and over time.
The prestigious Michelin Stars were awarded, ranging from one to three, honoring restaurants that showcase exceptional cuisine through remarkable execution and creativity.
Among the notable recognitions are the Bib Gourmand, celebrating eateries that provide exceptional cuisine at reasonable prices, and the Green Star, given to those pioneering sustainable culinary practices. Inspectors additionally emphasize suggested dining establishments and present exclusive professional accolades.
Originating in France in 1900 as a travel aid for drivers, the Michelin Guide has transformed into a highly esteemed system for rating restaurants globally. Despite its global expansion, the guide remains steadfast in its adherence to the selection principles established over a century ago.
Chefs and restaurateurs in Texas are eagerly anticipating the announcement of new Michelin-recognized establishments.
In the previous year, eateries in Houston and Dallas achieved numerous stars and Bib Gourmand accolades, signifying a significant development in the state's dynamic culinary landscape.
