Montgomery ISD is moving forward with enhanced campus safety measures after its board of trustees approved the purchase of a silent alert system during its April 15 meeting. The wearable technology will enable staff to discreetly notify school officials and emergency responders in real-time during a crisis.

During its April 15 board meeting, the board of trustees for Montgomery ISD approved the acquisition of a silent alert system to enhance school safety protocols.
The system incorporates wearable devices for staff, allowing for silent activation to promptly notify school administrators, law enforcement, and first responders in emergency situations. “This tool enables swift and discreet communication without the need for phones or intercoms,” stated Amanda Davis-Summerville, the district’s director of technology and digital learning, during her presentation to the board.
The technology offered by Crisis Go can be activated in scenarios involving intruders, medical emergencies, or other disturbances, and it delivers the exact location of the staff member who initiated the alert. The rollout and training for the system are planned for August, right before the 2025–26 school year begins.
Although the meeting did not reveal the system's cost, Davis-Summerville highlighted that this initiative is in accordance with statewide safety mandates and recent legislative changes, which have led multiple Texas school districts to adopt similar technologies.
This investment arises in response to increasing demands for Texas schools to enhance campus security following recent safety issues across the state.

Incumbent Sara Countryman has been reelected mayor of Montgomery, according to unofficial results, while Cheryl Fox reclaimed her City Council seat. The outcomes follow a competitive local election with multiple candidates and strong early voter turnout.
