Pedro’s Tacos and Tequila Bar in Conroe is temporarily closed after severe storms caused thousands of dollars in damage, including failed refrigeration, a roof leak, and power issues. The restaurant’s reopening is on hold pending complete power restoration.
Severe storms and high winds have led to a temporary closure of Pedro’s Tacos and Tequila Bar in Conroe, resulting in significant financial repercussions for the beloved local establishment.
Recent storms have ravaged the area, resulting in substantial power outages, failures in refrigeration systems, and extensive water damage, which have ultimately rendered the establishment inoperable.
The restaurant experienced a partial power outage, leading to malfunctions in its freezers and refrigerators, which resulted in the spoilage of all perishable food items. The recommended temperature for freezers is at or below zero degrees. Manager Nelson Sanchez reported that temperatures have risen to nearly 40 degrees, confirming that all food must be discarded and that fresh inventory is currently on hold until power is restored.
The storm has exacerbated the situation by causing a roof leak and water intrusion, further complicating cleanup and repair efforts. The restaurant was compelled to cancel a significant birthday party reservation for 30 guests, a decision that Sanchez characterized as “a huge loss.”
Sanchez has maintained continuous communication with Entergy, the region's utility provider. “They indicated that it might take approximately two to four hours for someone to come and assess the situation,” he stated. The restaurant is facing mounting financial losses, currently exceeding thousands of dollars, due to persistent delays in repairs and restocking.
Sanchez conveyed appreciation for the significant support received from the community, despite facing a setback. In a show of support, customers have reached out via phone and in person to inquire about the well-being of the staff, offering words of encouragement during this time.
Pedro is optimistic about reopening as soon as power is restored and conditions permit. The management team is currently prioritizing cleanup efforts and ensuring a safe and efficient return to service.
