 Weekend events set in Conroe area

This weekend, a blend of arts, community outreach, and family-friendly events is planned throughout Conroe and Montgomery, providing residents with numerous opportunities to remain active and involved.

The Players Theatre Company is set to present the dark comedy “Potato Gumbo,” with performances scheduled for May 8-9 at 7:30 p.m. and May 10 at 2 p.m. The event is scheduled to occur at 225 Metcalf St. in Conroe, with ticket prices varying from $21 to $30.

Car enthusiasts are invited to join Montgomery ISD’s inaugural auto show on May 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at The Den, situated at 1520 Lone Star Parkway in Montgomery. Entry is complimentary, with a $20 charge for vehicle exhibits. Organizers announced that proceeds will benefit the district’s automotive program, and attendees can look forward to a variety of vehicles as well as food and drink selections.

On May 9, the Montgomery County Disaster Preparedness Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center in Conroe. The complimentary event will showcase emergency response vehicles, public safety demonstrations and provide opportunities to engage with first responders while gaining insights into disaster preparedness.

Residents have the opportunity to participate in the Montgomery County March for Babies, a fundraising event that supports the March of Dimes. The event is set to commence at 9 a.m. on May 9, located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. The initiative, according to organizers, is designed to bolster programs focused on enhancing health outcomes for mothers and infants.

A Mother’s Day Patio Pop-up is scheduled for May 10, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at 67 1/2 April Wind Drive S. in Montgomery, providing a delightful way to wrap up the weekend. The event will feature coffee, delightful sweet treats, and engaging hands-on activities, such as crafting personalized succulent arrangements.
