A 190-home build-to-rent community has opened near Lake Conroe, offering single-family and townhome living with upscale amenities—minus the mortgage.

A new neighborhood development near Lake Conroe allows people to live in single-family homes without incurring long-term debt. The first part of Everstead at Conroe, a neighborhood of 190 build-to-rent homes, is now open. This gives renters the chance to experience the comforts of suburban home life without the commitment of buying a home.
The 23.5-acre neighborhood is at 7711 Longmire Road, just west of I-45 and east of the lake. It was built by Landmark Properties and Open House—the hall for residents, with the first 20 homes opening in February. The entire project is expected to be completed by December 2025. Landmark Executive Vice President Rob Dinwiddie says that approximately 25% of the units in the project have already been rented.
Everstead at Conroe has a range of homes for sale, including townhomes and detached ranch-style units. The homes are aimed at young workers and empty nesters. Prices for homes range from $1,899 for two-bedroom units to $2,199 for three-bedroom units. Homes range in size from 1,123 to 1,779 square feet.
There are many great features for residents to enjoy, including a pool, a 24-hour exercise center with a kids' area, a pickleball court, a private dog park, a playground with shade, and a clubhouse. The units have granite countertops, full-size washers and dryers, walk-in closets, hardwood-style floors, and private patios in the backyards that are fenced in. Some homes have garages or storage units that are connected to them as well.
The project, which is zoned for Willis ISD, aligns with national trends in rental housing in the Houston area, which has become a national hub for build-to-rent growth. First, Everstead at Windrose opened in the spring of 2024.
Now, Everstead at Conroe is Landmark's second neighborhood like this in the area.
